Do I need any experience to take a surf lesson in Uluwatu?
No experience needed. Most of our students are complete beginners. Our certified local instructors start you on the sand with safety and paddling, then get you standing on gentle waves in your very first lesson. All skill levels are welcome.
What's included in a surf lesson?
Everything you need to surf: a surfboard suited to your level, a rash guard and a professional instructor. Lessons run for around 2 hours and all equipment is included at no extra cost.
What should I bring?
Just bring a swimsuit, sunscreen (reef-safe is best), a towel and some drinking water. We provide the surfboard and rash guard. Leave valuables at your accommodation.
When is the best time and tide to surf Uluwatu?
Lessons run every day from 6 AM to 6 PM. Early morning and late afternoon usually offer the cleanest, lightest-wind conditions. We check the daily forecast and tide and choose the safest, best spot for your group.
How big are the groups?
We keep groups small for fast progress: group lessons are 4–6 people, semi-private 2–3 people, and private lessons are one-on-one. Smaller groups mean more personal attention and more waves for you.
